Sharing Stories, Improving Lives
A Mental Health Campaign for MOYO Health and Community Services
2023
‘Sharing Stories, Improving Lives’ is a mental health campaign that aligns with MOYO’s goal to increase awareness of and to increase the number of members of the ‘Theatre for Positive Mental Health’ program. Theatre and performing has been proven to be beneficial for mental health. It is great for improving self-confidence and self-expression, reducing anxiety levels, depression levels, stress levels and so much more. It is important to promote this program and try and get as many people to join. The campaign also aims to promote the mental health benefits of participatory arts and storytelling that we mentioned above.
1 / Mascot - Sankofa
Mascot - Sankofa
The term ‘Sankofa’ means "We must look back to the past so that we may understand how we became what we are, and we move forward to a better future". Sankofa is a symbol for the black community. The symbol is relevant to our campaign ‘Sharing stories, Improving Lives’. We tell our stories as a way to describe what we have been going through (Sankofa: look back to the past) to be able to move forward (Sankofa: move forward to a better future). We have made our own version of the Sankofa symbol to use in this campaign.
